A Great meal planning site

I occasionally am asked about meal planning and weekly menus.  I bounce around  a bit, and I often just like to do it on my own cruising through cookbooks and making a list.  But, sometimes that just sucks so I let someone else do it.

My favorite on right now is The Fresh 20.  It's a great site for healthy meal plans, and it even gives you a super easy shopping list.  Every Friday you can download a new meal plan, that includes 5 evening meals, a shopping list for them, a page that shows you what you can prep ahead of time to make cooking easier and faster, and all of the nutritional info for each meal.  The meals do take into account what is in season and could possibly be picked up at a farmers market.  In the winter you will have to add some salad stuff from the super market, because it tends to be a little shy on fresh vege's (seasonal)

It is a membership site and will cost you $24 bucks a quarter, that's 8 bucks a month.   In my judgement that's money well spent.

They offer several options to your meal plan memberships, with plans that include classic, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, kosher, meals for one, paleo and a weekly lunch plan.  The normal subscription gets you access to 1 plan of your choice.

Food pyramid

It seems like the experts tell us a different way to eat healthy every couple of months.  But, the Mediterranean style of eating has stayed pretty much the same.  Check out the food pyramids, style changed a bit, but the principles stay the same.

Still the best healthy eating plan.........and you get to drink wine....EVERYDAY!!

Jan 5

Well here we are, another new year, another long gap in posting.  So I'll try again.  One thing that I have learned is that to narrow a focus leads to trying to hard to find something to write about.  So I'll go back to the basics.  Food for health, for interest and the original idea I had to look at history and meaning behind food.  So what will it look like?  Not sure.  But let's see were it goes.
